Animal Resources & Support
Kismet Rescue is a community based organization devoted to rescuing and rehabilitating unwanted, abandoned, and/or neglected pets in the East Bay Area. Our primary goal is to help unfortunate animals gain a higher quality of life. We believe all animals should be treated with dignity & kindness. Until all shelters are “no kill”, we will continue to help with the homeless pet population performing friendly trapping (Safe-Trap-Alter-Return [STAR]), along with educating our communities about the importance of spaying & neutering pets.
Our wish is to have an impact in the feral population throughout San Leandro and the neighboring communities. Additionally, we want to find healthy, happy homes for all the friendly or in-need animals we come across during our endeavors. While we cannot always take in the strays or homeless animals on the streets, we can offer support in simple ways, such as sharing information, providing supplies (food, leashes, crates, etc.), and networking (looking for adopters, trying to find another rescue that can help, etc.). Sometimes, a little assistance is all that is needed to help a stray find his lost home, or a homeless pet find her new safe haven. We are here to help as best we can.
Take care.

Kismet is not your typical rescue. We primarily help with friendly trapping (aka Safe-Trap-Alter-Return [STAR]) of feral cats. However, we also like to help in whatever ways we can - for example, helping with notifications if a stray is found, using our network to re-home animals, helping with advice if we have it, and providing information on other rescue groups in the area that may be of help.
